Genoa is a city of contrasts: it is a city of art as well as an industrial city. It has glass skyscrapers and medieval towers, business centers and untouched historical sites. Genoa is one of Italy’s most significant ports that now houses Europe’s largest aquarium and the biggest maritime history museum in the Mediterranean. Wandering through its narrow, winding lanes, known as caruggi, visitors will uncover architectural treasures, some outstanding museums and art galleries. Porta Soprana, the most famous gate in the ancient Genoa city walls, leads to the Piazza de Ferrari, with its Palace of the Doges and the Opera House. Along the Strade Nuove, a breathtaking avenue listed as a World Heritage Site, is where we find the Palazzi dei Rolli, a list of aristocratic homes that serve as a reminder of the city’s imperial past. Genoa is a mysterious and reserved city, it will guide you to fantastic bars, share its cuisine and offer you a taste of culture, but it’ll need to get to know you first.

The city of Livorno is situated in Tuscany. Today, it stands as an industrial hub on the Mediterranean coast, with its primary industries being metallurgy and chemicals, though it also boasts a significant oil refinery. Despite its industrial focus, the city also attracts tourists due to its rich history and unique experiences it offers. Originally, Livorno started as a small fishing village. However, it held great significance for the Medici family due to its strategic location, and they declared the port a free port from 1590 until 1860. This allowed the city to flourish. However, much of this development was lost during the Second World War when the city suffered extensive damage, particularly to its historic Cathedral and synagogue.
